14/08/2006 - An afternoon at the beach... lake victoria

This sunday we decided with Sabine, Jule, Claudia, Bart, Raymond, our Kiswahili teacher and me to go to the beach. It was a really long way but a really good day...

At first we arrived at the orphenage at 3 o clock p.m. Just after the only lunch for the orphans. They all start to take a shower, first time we saw that since 3 weeks, and put quite presentables clothes, and for some of them, they could wear shoes. So, after one hour, we could start to go on the way for the beach....

When we arrived there, the eyes of the children were like they never saw before the lake, the beach and all this water. We could start the activities when they realized that they are still here in bukoba, and not somewhere else. Frisbies, foot, indiaka, bubble party and swimming for some were the principals enjoyment of this afternoon. Some children were more simply siting infront of the lake and tried to take all this energy for the next days. I want to say thank you to all this children for gave us all these smiles and happyness. One example of many others, is about the only handicap girl.

Huyu : This girl was at the begining of our coming here every time alone without any expression in her face, she never said a word. The children said us that she can't hear. At least we realized that she really can hear, and more.... she can smile. We included her everytime in all the activities we did, and it was better step by step. But nobody could hear a sound from her. Yesterday, I took her on my shoulders for the way to the beach  because she only can walk really really slowly. She were laughing a lot, actually every time, and she was speaking almost everytime, real words and good prononciation.... Huuuuum... How to say for express my feeling at this moment....

The only thing you all need to know, that here at the orphenage exist since now almost one month a really big evolution, by the comportment of them, by our comportment also, by all we exchanged together.... It's great, really great....

Thank you children, thank you famillies, thank you friends

We didn't take pictures of this moment for live at first this time with them,

but next time, we will do......

Enjoy these
